Description
This is a limited edition Cosmonaute. The history of this extraordinary timepiece begins on May 24th 1962, when American astronaut Scott Carpenter orbited the Earth three times as part of the Mercury missions. He wore a Breitling Navitimer the whole way round, which the brand claims makes it the first automatic chronograph in space. The watch featured a 24-hour scale, which was required to help tell night from day. From this, the Navitimer Cosmonaute was born. This particularly fine example features an impressive black design with red highlights, and is made with the brand's unique “black steel”, a highly durable material that uses a carbon-based coating to increase scratch resistance. The watch is powered by the in-house B02 movement and bears the insignia of Aurora 7—Carpenter's spacecraft—on the caseback.

This Breitling has undergone a thorough inspection of water resistance, accuracy, functionality and condition to determine the level of reconditioning required to meet our strict standards.
